Masters Predictionz: Sunday at Augusta

By Adam Maher

When I selected 16 golfers as potential winners at the Masters this past Wednesday night, I had a serious feeling in my gut that Brandt Snedeker would rise to the top of my list.

He's been my favorite player on tour this season, despite injuries, and tonight he has a chance to win his first major. I've been calling any putt made or put close from over 20 feet this season a "Snedeker" or "you just Snedekered the crap out of that putt," so if Brandt is to win today, he needs to keep his putter on point.

Tiger Woods was also in my original 16. Barring a terrible break into the water, Tiger would have been in one of the final two groups going out today, like I predicted. Regardless, the story lines are there for the taking. The last major Jack Nicklaus won, in 1986, Jack was down four strokes headed into Sunday, as is Tiger today. Also, it's been 18 majors since Tiger won a major, the same number of majors Jack holds, the record which Tiger is chasing.

Tiger just teed off, so I'll keep this brief. Sunday at Augusta is probably every golfer's favorite sports event of the year. Ask any fan or golf pro and they will tell you there is no place they'd rather be than walking the fairways at the Masters mid April. Ask them what their dream is? They'll tell you they want to walk up the 18th with a two-putt to win. I think today is Brandt Snedeker's dream day.

Brandt Snedeker takes the Masters at -10.
