The Washington Redskins have teamed up with 3Seventy, an SMS marketing company, to deliver an innovative form of fan-to-team interaction that is sure to have Skins fans' thumbs busy this week during the 2012 NFL Draft.

For the first time ever, Redskins fans will be able to interact with the team and its various departments via live, personalized text messages from all over the country. All they'll have to do is text "REDSKINS" to 70626 to subscribe to the 80-year-old franchise's new proprietary interactive SMS platform. From there, fans will embark on a customizable trail of texting with Redskins players, coaches, trainers and staff members.

Think of it as a touch-tone dial machine with your cable company, but instead, you're learning about your favorite football team via texting at your own pace, not why you owe an extra $5.95 per month because you unsubscribed from HBO on your cable company's time!

3Seventy CEO Carrie Chitsey says her company, on top of providing the technology, will work with the Redskins to analyze the resulted data from this innovative and unique technology, which will make being a Redskins fan more enjoyable than ever.

"Displaced fans will be able to find the best local Redskins draft and game parties all around the country," Chitsey said. "3Seventy is the only company in the U.S. that holds this type of text message-driven data collecting technology, and we are very happy to be working with the Redskins."

On top of receiving the latest updates from the draft, fans who subscribe to the text message service will be automatically entered to win an autographed Redskins jersey from the Redskins #1 Draft Pick this Thursday.

2012 is gearing up to be a special year for the Redskins, with many marquee events taking place throughout the season. This new SMS technology will enable Redskins fans to be more involved in team activities than ever before, says to Redskins Director of Web Services, Jennifer Hinkle.

"We'll have a number of Redskins Rally events occurring around Fedex Field," Hinkle said. "There will be a Redskins 80th Road Show where we will be taking our 80th Bus around Virginia, Maryland and D.C. to visit and encourage our fans to come out and meet the team, to enjoy the various festivities of the 80th anniversary."

On top of interacting and receiving updates from the Draft and the aforementioned events, Chitsey says that fans will be able to text with trainers in regards to player injuries, vote on team MVP at the end of the season, and share their thoughts on who should start at QB, etc.

Most experts think the Skins will draft RGIII - but nothing is set in stone, so text your luck, Redskins fans!

Happy drafting!
