Kronwall55 Delivers NHL Hit of the Year

Jason Klau

Niklas Kronwall is, well, a wall. He is one of the best open-ice hitters in the game and it's a wonder why his name isn't up consistently there with the likes of Chris Pronger and Dion Phaneuf. Last night, in what was probably the NHL's most vicious, legal hit of the year, his victim was Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek.

For those who base their opinions solely off of the opinions of the analysts, you may not want to listen to the audio from the Flyers announcers on this one. While nobody wants to see a guy get hurt the way Voracek was on this play, Kronwall hit him by the books, completely clean.

The hit comes from straight ahead, with the shoulder down. There is no charge on the play, just Kronwall stepping up into the hit and making Voracek pay for (and forget) ever putting his head down when coming out of the offensive zone.
