NHL Bro of the Day: Ryan Callahan

SBz Staff

In a preview of a possible Stanley Cup Series against the Red Wings, Rangers captain Ryan Callahan last night scored his 27th goal of the season to win in OT. The kicker? It was his birthday - 27th that is.

Not to mention he smashed the goal cam after railing a wrister on a break off the left inside post:

Possibly the sickest goal noise of the year. The quasi post-to-camera-to-GAME-OVER-on-my-birthday sound never grows old.

With this win, the Rangers keep pace with the surging Pittsburgh Penguins, whose 9-0-1 in their last 10 record has thrusted them into second place in the Eastern Atlantic Division, while the first place Rangers are 5-5-0 in their last 10.

It's been a long time since the Rangers lifted the Stanley Cup. This year they are certainly favored to make a playoff run. OT wins and leadership from their captain will be needed again and again if that is to happen. For now, congrats to Ryan Callahan for murdering to excellence on his birthday last night.
