NFL Free Agency Talk 2012: Peyton's Pack

By Jake Heston / @Jheston0p

Done Dealz:

Vincent Jackson: According to Adam Scheftler, via Twitter, Vincent Jackson has just signed a 5-year, $55M deal with Tampa Bay.

Cortland Finnegan: Cortland Finnegan has also signed a 5-year, $50M deal, but with the St. Louis Rams.

Reggie Wayne: Wayne will test his Luck (3-year deal with Indianapolis). No $ aspects revealed yet.

Calvin Johnson: CBSSports has reported that MEGATRON signed a deal that will see him in light blue until 2019. $60M guaranteed, $132M overall. That's the richest deal in NFL history.

Carl Nicks: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed former New Orleans Saints guard Carl Nicks to a 5-year contract Wednesday, the team announced. Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the contract is worth $47.5 million, including $31 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid guard in the league.

Trent Cole: Trent Cole and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed on a 4-year contract extension through 2017. Cole is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who ranks third on the team’s all-time list for sacks with 68. The deal was announced Wednesday.

Mario Williams: Signed with the Bills on a 6-year deal worth up to $100 million. Guess he chose $ over playoffs.

To Be Determined:

The Peyton Manning sweepstakes continues as the NFL lockout-less off-season is back in full swing.

According to ESPN, Peyton will most likely land in Denver or Arizona, which were the first two teams he visited. New head coach Joe Philbin of the Miami Dolphins plans to met with Manning this week, but their chances went from possible to impossible after the trade of Brandon Marshall to the Chicago Bears for two 3rd round draft picks (2012 & 2013).

Right now Peyton is the only P we see in Tennessee! Visiting Kenny Britt? No, he's in court or on his way. CJ53? Probably on a water slide somewhere in Texas.

Let's be serious: How are you going to persuade Manning to Miami when you just gave away your best and one of the league's best wide outs?

Nevertheless it will be exciting to see where Peyton ends up. Who knows, maybe he'll join forces with CJ53 and Kenny Britt in Tennessee, or Randy and the gang in San Fran...

Besides Peyton, here are the top six NFL Free Agents out there today:

Matt Flynn: If it doesn't work out in Miami with Manning, Matt Flynn will most likely be next on their list. It's well known that Joe Philbin is a Matt Flynn fan from their days together in Green Bay (Philbin a former GB offensive coordinator), so it would be interesting to see if they team back up in Miami. (Flynn went 31-44 for 480 yards and 6 throwing TDs in his only start with Philbin calling the plays).

Mario Williams: Considered to be the best free agent in the game next to Manning, there's no doubt that Williams was worth the overall #1 NFL Draft pick in 2006. He has dominated the game, starting his career at OLB and switching to DE. In 82 games played, Williams has 241 tackles and 53 sacks. Talk is that Williams could be heading to that already dangerous Chicago D.

Peyton Hillis: After a monster season in 2010 and being the 2012 Madden cover, Peyton Hillis came out last season soft. He let little injuries and money slow him down, frivolously forgetting to focus on football. I doubt Cleveland wants him back after last season, Kansas City has sparked interest in a 1-year deal with the man formerly known as the Great White Avalanche.

It's sure to be a crazy NFL Offseason. To see a list of the top 50 NFL Free Agents, check out what USAToday's Nate Davis wrote this afternoon.
