NBA Bro of the Day: Josh Smith

By Jake Heston

Today's Bro of the Day goes to Josh Smith aka J-Smoove, whose 30-point, 14-rebound game was enough to lift the mediocre Hawks over the rolling Thunder. Heading into the 4th quarter the game was tied up, but not for long as Smith went to work, scoring 12 of his 30 in the 4th.

Smith's double-double was beastly, but what locked up his first B of the D was his posterizing dunk over The League's most prolific shot-blocker, Serge Ibaka.

"HE FLUSHED IT ALL THE WAY TO OKLAHOMA"

The Bigger Picture:
With less than half of the shortened season remaining, does Atlanta have what it takes to make a run in the playoffs?

Not at all. Right now the Hawks hold the 6th spot in the East. With the talent that the Knicks and Celtics have holding onto the 7 and 8 spots, one of those two will surely surge past the Hawks to control that crucial 6th spot - for whoever doesn't grab that 6th spot will be feasted on by the Heat or Bulls in the first round.

Beating the Thunder at home will be remain one of the few high points of the Hawks season when the year comes to an end. I'd be surprised to see them go .500 on their upcoming six-game road trip that starts Tuesday night against one of the hottest teams in the NBA, the third-in-the East Pacers, who are currently riding a six-game win streak.

BY THE WAY
Did you know that Josh Smith holds the record for youngest NBA player to record 10 blocked shots in one game (19 years, 13 days)? Or that he is the youngest player to reach 1,000 career blocks in NBA history (24 years, 59 days)? Oak Hill stand up.
