Broz of the Day: Georgetown Hoyas

By Jake Heston

Today's Broz of the Day goes to the Georgetown Hoyas for laying the SMACK DOWN on the not so fighting Irish in a 59-41 blowout.

Georgetown's superb defensive efforts continued last night, holding the Irish to 33% from the field and a season-low 41 points. When asked about the Hoyas defense ND coach Mike Brey replied, "That may be the best defensive team we played against this season," via ESPN.

Jason Clark went off on senior night scoring 13 points (5-7 from the field) and adding 6 boards but more importantly locking down NDs two stars in Jerian Grant and Eric Atkins. Greg Whittington had a career day adding 16 points off the bench. Henry Sims also contributed on his senior night scoring 12 points and distributing the ball for a team-high 5 assists.

With the Big East Tournament around the corner do the Hoyas have a legitimate shot to make a Big East and National Title run?

The Hoyas are one of the best defensive teams in the country - their ability to lock down defenders inside the paint and contest shots gives them a huge advantage going forward. They have two great scorers in Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson - those two will need to stay healthy and out of foul trouble. Henry Sims' exceptional play at center will need to continue - his ability to pass the ball in the lane has been a vital element in the Hoyas success this season.

If the Hoyas continue to play unselfish basketball, Coach JT3 will be looking at his first Big East Title. It looks like the Hoyas will be a #3 seed heading into March Madness, which will give them a realistic shot to make a run to the Sweet 16 - from there they'll control their own destiny.
