It’s something that the grinders of the NHL are called upon to do every game. Blocking a slap shot may just be the most dangerous, and gutsy a thing an athlete can do in professional sports today. In this Bruins vs Islanders matchup, Boston forward Daniel Paille found that out that hard way.
Normally after a play like this, the never ending debate about the necessity of visors in always gets brought up. Well if there’s any evidence to the contrary, here it is. This is not to say it hurt (the visor that is). In a game where broken noses and bloodied faces aren’t even grounds to miss a shift, I can’t imagine anyone thinking any less of Paille for leaving the game. Hope he’s ok.
