From the Gridiron to the Hardwood: A gallery of NFL Players putting in work on the court.

With the NFL back in full swing, here’s a look at a few players who excelled on the hardwood as well. Pigskin enthusiasts should recognize that stars such as Donovan McNabb, Julius Peppers and Antonio Gates all played a role on some very successful teams during their college days. Even years removed from the game, it’d still be entertaining to see these guys go at it during off-season pick up games. Peep the broz below and check for the ballers at the end who also showcased their talents on the gridiron in their younger, more formidable years.

Donovan McNabb
After current Vikings QB Donovan Mcnabb teamed up with former NBA baller Antoine
Walker at Chicago's Mt. Carmel High, McNabb was a walk-on under Coach Boeheim at 
Syracuse, playing for the Orange during the '95 and '96 seasons. McNabb played a reserve role 
on the squad, but was a part of the '95 National Runner-Up team.  McNabb left the team after his 
sophomore year to focus solely on football—a wise decision.
But was it a wise decision for McNabb to go to Minnesota?

Julius Peppers
Chicago Bears DE Julius Peppers was a beast on both the gridiron and hardwood 
during his tenure at UNC.   After being heavily recruited by Coach K and Duke, 
Peppers chose to attend UNC afterbeing told he would be able to play 
both football and basketball for the Tar Heels.

And now he is possibly the most lethal NFL bro in all the land.


Tony Gonzalez
Falcons Tight End Tony Gonzalez played both football and basketball at California 
during his undergrad years.  Gonzalez was a solid contributor to the Golden Bears, 
averaging close to 7 ppg.
But chose to go pro in something else...
